Review

SolveIT!, developed by Pine Groove Software, is the most complete financial calculator solution offered by this firm. The other solutions offered are: Loan Calculator Plus!, offered for free for non-commercial use; and AmortizeIT!. The basic platform and design is the same for all three versions, the scope is what changes among them.
SolveIT! gathers a whole collection of financial calculations tools, organized into the following six categories:
1. Finance: tools to calculate interest rates, net present value, and equivalent rates, among others.
2. Depreciation: this category offers tools to calculate the depreciation of a certain value using the different frequently used methods.
3. Loan: this category is basically the Loan Calculator Plus! application commented before. You’ll find all kind of tools to make calculations regarding loans.
4. Schedules – Cash Flows: this category offers tools to calculate amortization, future value, and annuity, among others.
5. General: here you will find general tools such as: EOQ, to calculate the economic order quantity used in stock administration; Budget; Net Worth; and Gross Profit, among others.
6. This last category gathers several virtual advisors. Among them we can mention: lease vs. buy; loan comparison; break even point; and refinance.
In terms of comparison with the other products offered by the same developer, this is the one with the most convenient benefit/price ratio. What you should consider before buying this product is the use you intend to give it, because it’s not very likely that you would use the whole thing.
Even when it performs pretty complex calculations it offers a very intuitive interface which, by the way, could be benefited by going through a restyling process. The system requirements are minimal, starting with a Pentium II processor, Windows 95, and 10 Mb of free disk for installation.
